Three of my favourite Recharge tips:
1. Get good quality sleep. Not sure about you but i can't function without sleep. Getting quality sleep is important for your mental health. Switch off all electronics at least an hour before going to bed so that you can wind down. If you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, try a relaxation technique or quiet activity until you feel sleepy again. Ask Glenn or Hanlie for a their realxation CD. I have tried this and helps me sleep.
2. Take some quiet time out for yourself, away from your usual demands, even if this is only for 15 minutes a day. For example, going for a walk, having a bath, having a cuppa or reading the newspaper. This helps the mind to create new neural pathways every time we experience something new and different.
3. Get your own Health Team your own Go to People. When you find that things are getting to much to handle don’t be afraid to ask for help. This takes a lot of insight to know what you can and can not control. If you are experiencing stress or worry, it can help to talk to someone about it. Simply let go of all the thoughts and expectations surrounding the word HELP and speak to a friend, family member, your GP, life coach, counsellor orhypnotherapist. Ask for help when you need it and accept help when it is offered – realise that you cannot do everything.
Pause and think about what you want to do. What do you want to work on today? Of course, you may not “want” to do everything that is on your plate; however, you do want to get it off of your plate, which will only happen if you take action. The key is to emphasize moving forward and to use language that supports your goals. You want to be your biggest cheerleader.
